Coming Soon: MORE Network Resource Library

Coming Soon to a Computer Screen Near You!

March 24th marked a special day for us at the MORE Network. It was the accumulation of many years of hard work and dreaming as we held a soft launch of our Resource Library for the 40+ who joined our bi-monthly Cross-Canada meeting.

Imagine you are the member care personnel of a certain mission who is looking for some good material to help a missionary who is dealing with culture shock.

Or a missionary parent looking for a podcast to help their teenagers understand themselves better and prepare for what they may be facing as they anticipate repatriation to Canada after living overseas most of their lives.

You could go to Google and get “about 435,000,000 results (0.66 seconds)” or you could go to the MORE Network’s Resource Library and get a trusted, vetted, pertinent resource in a matter of minutes.

Those that were on the call got introduced to this Resource Library, specifically tailored to the needs of member care personnel, cross-cultural workers, third-culture kids, and church mission leaders, so that they don’t need to weed through millions of results to get something helpful. There are many different, relevant, searchable, topics which can also be sorted by books, websites, podcasts, videos, blogs and more!

Wilma Findlay, has been accumulating material for the Resource Library for years and it will soon have over 700 great resources to browse. This number will keep growing as member care personnel and others contribute their own trusted recommendations to the mix.

Our IT staff, comprised of Phil Cox and Virginia Ramunda, have also been working hard behind the scenes, and are still tweaking things to make sure things look good and work well. The response to the presentation was very positive, excitement is building, and we cannot wait to roll it out officially in the summer as part of the MORE Network website so that you can see it for yourself!

Mike Fietje is the Operations Team Leader for the MORE Network (Missionary Opportunities for Resourcing and Equipping) and the Ontario Regional Chapter Leader for MORE. Along with his wife Diane and their children, they spent 20 years in Peru with a mission organization serving children at risk. For most of that time Mike was Country Director as well as Children’s Home Director for several years. Having experienced transition back to Canada, first Mike after growing up as a missionary kid in SE Asia, and then as a whole family returning from Peru, they know how hard it can be to readjust to life in North America and are delighted to be able to help others in similar circumstances.

Re-entry Support for Cross-Cultural Workers

The most traumatic transition a missionary faces is repatriating to their passport country. Is that surprising to you?

MORE Network exists to bolster, strengthen and encourage Canadian Missionaries and their children in times of transition, particularly as they repatriate from the cross-cultural assignment.

RE-VIEW is a re-entry retreat that offers a period of reflection for cross-cultural workers (individuals, couples and families) in transition.
